Mini Marathon for the 5th Anniversary of Laos’ WTO Membership took place on 03 February 2018, at Patuxay Park. The event was chaired by Mr. Sonexay Siphandone, Deputy Prime Minister, and reported the outstanding achievement of Laos after being five-years membership to World Trade Organization (WTO) by H.E. Mrs. Khemmani Pholsena, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and the participants from government sector, business sector, embassies, educational institutions, and the general public for more than 1700 people attended to the said event.
The objective of the event is to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Laos’ WTO Membership since 3rd February, 2013.
Lao PDR, as a new member and a least developed country, shall implement its commitment promptly and prepare skilled personnel to contribute actively to the global integration in order to create environment favorable for operating the business.
WTO has been established for 23 years since January 1, 1995. It currently has 164 members and Lao PDR became its 158th member on 3rd February, 2013. Throughout the 23-year period of the establishment, there are lot of success and opportunities for members, with the main achievements of building a strong and transparent multilateral trading system.
