Assessment Reports on the Implementation of Trade in Services Commitments
Summary
To strengthen trade in services regulatory framework, in order to comply with obligations under the WTO and ASEAN, the Department of Foreign Trade Policy, under the support of TDF2 project, together with foreign experts, have conducted four assessment reports on the implementation of trade in Services commitments.

To strengthen trade in services regulatory framework, in order to comply with obligations under the WTO and ASEAN, the Department of Foreign Trade Policy, under the support of TDF2 project, together with foreign experts, have conducted four assessment reports on the implementation of trade in Services commitments namely:

  • Regulatory Assessment of Services Trade and Investment: Improving Services Regulation in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic
  • Final Sector Assessment Report to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Compliance with Trade Commitments and the Implementation of Regulatory Best Practice in the Telecommunications Sector
  • Final Consolidated Report: Development of Insurance Sector in Lao PDR
  • A Needs Assessment: The Implementation of The ASEAN Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) in Lao PDR

All four assessment reports are based on trade in services key principles and commitments made by Lao PDR. They provide recommendation for regulatory improvements related to insurance sector, telecommunication sector, ASEAN MRAs and other sectors of the Lao PDR, in order to comply with international practices such as WTO and ASEAN.
