Workshop on the identification and classification of services measures for Lao services Portal (LSP) took place on 17 August 2018, at Khampaseuth hotel, Vientiane Province. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Santisouk Phounesavath, Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade Policy, with the representatives from line ministries and concerned sectors for more than 37 persons actively attended to the said workshop.

Workshop on the identification and classification of services measures for Lao services Portal (LSP) took place on 17 August 2018, at Khampaseuth hotel, Vientiane Province. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Santisouk Phounesavath, Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade Policy, with the representatives from line ministries and concerned sectors for more than 37 persons actively attended to the said workshop.

The overall objective of the workshop is to upgrade the effective capacity and skill in respect of identifying and classifying the services measures; and to ensure that all information available at the portal is accurate and remains up to date.

During workshop, Participants were instructed on how to identify and classify of services measures by using the table/matrix with 10 columns, regulatory measures affecting trade in services, and sectoral classification for trade in services. Furthermore, participants were fully involved in exercise for identifying and classifying of services measures from substantial legal instruments.

Overall, the participants were interested in the workshop. They raised various questions to discuss with lecturers actively. This was a good opportunity for LSP’s focal points to upgrade their capacity and skill on identifying and classifying the services measures. Besides, it was also a foundation to draft new legal instruments related to trade in services and to encourage a good relationship for LSP’s coordination mechanism in the future.
