Railway Tracks Laid Through Tunnel in First for Laos-China Railway
Lao and Chinese engineers from China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group laid track through the Ban Nong Khay Tunnel in Vientiane Province, 60km north of Vientiane Capital on 23th May 2020. The railway tracks have been laid through a tunnel along the Laos-China Railway for the first time, marking a historic achievement for the project.
Laos to Resume Domestic Flights, Schools, Other Restrictions Eased
The National Task force for Covid-19 Prevention and Control announced at a press conference of nine measures that will be eased effective from 18 May.
1. Government and private sector offices shall open and resume operations as usual, but prevention measures and guidelines issued by the task force must be strictly implemented.
2. Inter-provincial travel is now permitted for all people throughout the country but prevention measures and guidelines issued by the task force must be strictly followed.
3. Inter-provincial transportation via land, water, or air is now permitted but prevention measures and guidelines issued by the task force must be followed
Construction of the Laos-China Railway has resumed in full capacity following the return of foreign workers from China.
According to a report in Xinhua, Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd said that construction had resumed at all its work sites along the Laos-China Railway. Particularly, the construction in the mountains of northern Laos was continuing one hundred percent.
